Are there any good paint programs on pc? It should preferably be something like Deluxe Paint on Amiga (so no photoshop).

How about these ?

Photogenics
You can DL a trial copy
& still available on the Amiga :-)

Project Dogwaffle
This is a very Amiga style prog
Plus there is an older "free" version for download ;-)

Or if you can find it, search for "FBRUSH 1.1" or "Free Brush 1.1"
published by "AFEL" or "The American Free Electronic Library"
Its a very old prog (1996), but you can do allsorts of stuff with brushes (even more than DPaint!)

GrafX2 is great if you want a no standard DOS like interface. If you're used to the productivity of regular Windows interface, I say Graphics Gale is best.

and imo Gale is much better to use for modernday pixeling. Promotion is as buggy as hell and a pain to use and no longer updated (as far as i know)

Yesterday, i've been checking out grafx2 and it seems neat. Feels immediately familiar for somebody who is used to DPaint but has some neat features, like layers. The interface didn't need to be that old school for me but i can live with it.

I think it's time to say goodbye to PPaint. Never really liked PPaint compared to DPaint anyway.

Try Pro Motion by Cosmigo as well, great soft: http://www.cosmigo.com/promotion/index.php

"pro motion is a drawing and animation software for Windows designed similar to the famous Amiga Deluxe Paint (DPaint)."

I like Graphics Gale for Windows: http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/us/index.html

On the Amiga I only ever used PPaint for converting formats foreign to the classic Amigas like PNG, but it does have some other neat tools that DPaint does not.

I couldn't stand using either of them today though. I dabble in Mac OS X or Windows and only use WinUAE for testing, but I guess a fully featured ClassicWB-install with RTG support could be fast and comfortable.

ProMotion 4.7 is free and good enough.
I use XnView also, it is a great image viewer support lots of different formats. I use it to convert to/from IFF, palette modification, reducing colors etc.
