Somehow, i feel that this is a missed opportunity. I would have added 2.5/5 but as this is not possible, i added 3/5. There obviously is a lot of talent involved in this demo as it looks quite stunning (amazing full screen pictures). But it lacks design, it lacks transitions, it lacks energy. It is a slideshow of effects. And i hardly ever rewatch it. Neither do i understand why this won and ranked before Ephidrena's J'_ demo. Not bad, but not special either.

@z5

You're right. Great tech skills, but the continous fadeout wipes gives a sense of heavyness to it all. What a pity.

great slideshow of effects !

comment by scicco on 18 November 2003

well, it has some nice effects but lacks a bit in design, oh, and i felt a bit bored watching it. nevertheless it is a good demo i think.

comment by ToAks on 23 May 2004

i agree, this demo is good as an slideshow of effects and some of the effects are damned good even but it lacks style/design so hard that i had forgot about this demo untill now...

comment by z5 on 13 June 2005

hmm... i probably was a bit too harsh in my comments on this one. After watching it again a couple of times, i realised that:
- there a a whole lot of effects
- nearly all of them are very nice looking effects
- all of them are so well done, polished, smooth and seem super well coded.

Still misses something to glue it all together but it definately deserves praise for such super great, well coded and nicely executed effects.

Just added a truckload of screenshots, which cover nearly (all?) effects in the demo.

The whole idea behind this demo was to make a megademo in the very old sense. Hardcore coding was the central idea behind the old megademos, and this is what Optima wanted to make. He is not a good designer, but he is an incredibly skilled coder, who's able make some pretty nice looking effects at a very good framerate.

Good demo, but the 1st music is bad. Very bad. I just can't re-watch because of that music.

OPTIMA!! this is your show and it rulez!! I somehow forget about this one aswell, but rewatched it today (on vid, miggy is dead atm sniff!) but I love all those effects, everything looks so yummy, smooth and super skillfully done, but the sounds somehow seem very rushed or at least not like they fit very well for this kickass effects show of optima awesomeness. Anyways I throw u a 5/5 bcoz every effect is just soo well done and looks like u spend an awfull lot of time on perfecting them.
Question, wasn't this supposed to have been released as a scoopex demo ? or am i mixing it up with some other demo
