Retrokomp / Load Error Party 2015 (8bit + Amiga Party)
16-18.10.2015
Gdansk, Poland
(beautiful city btw)

if you have too far to Trsac (unfortunately, the terms are the same), some Polish groups would like to invite you to Gdansk for the first Amiga party (including Amiga Demo competition) in Poland since 2003. I think it can be really cool event. Remote entries are allowed, there are even some cash prizes, and the bottle of Zubrowka for each Amiga exe production :)

COMPO MACHINES:

Amiga OCS: A500, KS1.3, CPU 68000 / 7 MHz, 1MB RAM (512kB Chip RAM + 512kB Slow RAM)
Amiga AGA: A1200, KS3.1, CPU 68060 / 66 or 80 MHz, 64 MB RAM

AMIGA EXECUTABLE DEMO/INTRO COMPETITION
AMIGA MUSIC COMPETITION
AMIGA GRAPHICS COMPETITION

and many more.

I was actually meaning to make a thread about Retrokomp this week. Seems like a promising "new" polish party for old school platforms. It was held before apparently but this time it seems to have a bigger focus on scene compos.

I hope to see some fresh new polish releases :) I was a bit surprised to see so few releases on Riverwash this weekend.

Hi Guyz,

Some details are here too:
http://www.demoparty.net/retrokomploaderror2015/

Yep, the Zubrowka bottle is no joke. Also the money prizes are real, as we managed to convince the city department, that demo-scene is an artistic activity and the city should support it. One drawback of it is, that if you win - you have to receipt it with the bookkeeper on party-place. For remote entries it may be a problem, but there is a workaround for it - in an entry info, you can declare anyone (but not Orgas) as your representative (present on the party) to get it for you. It's all described in compo rules at our web page (www.retrokomp.org).

As for Zubrowka bottles, for entries like 64k and bigger - I may consider posting them later :)

We already know, that some of the bottles will be handed out during the event (fingers crossed that all declarations will be fulfilled :) If you have any questions drop me a msg (I'm the main org) through a contact link on our page or post it just here.

Cheers!

Good luck with the party, Sachy. I hope you'll get some remote entries aswell.

I have fond memories of former Polish parties like Gravity, Xenium, Satellite and Rush Hours. I was always excited to download all the releases from Amigascne ftp (on a incredibly "fast" modem...) after the weekend. Maybe Retrokomp can be the start of something bigger for the amiga scene in Poland again.

Thanks, Z5 :) Yep, I attended those parties in '90s, released some crap there, have good memories too. With RK/LE we'd like to give the polish Amiga scene a little push for activity, we tried to motivate quite a few - will see what result will it give. In fact, I treat it a bit as a little test for ppl here around and for myself - if it's worth to bother, wasting time organizing stuff, etc. We've got quite positive feedback but will see how it will end up. To have a successful compo, we need at least 4 serious prods in it, so any remote entry may help, but mostly I hope for local groups anyway (as promised :)

Recently we updated our web page with compo prizes and some directions (how to get from the airport, hostels, etc.) so anyone considering the travel, may find it interesting. Keep your fingers crossed for us or better send something for the compo ;)

Cheers!

Great to see a demo from you, noname. Hard to believe 5 years have gone by since Prototype 1.

Edit: just saw the compo video. I look forward to rewatching the Black Light demo from Wanted Team & Lamers. Seemed quite interesting and fun.

Hi Z5,

The demo is ready although I asked a friend for a final test on his configs too. Thing is, we are still extremely busy working on ascii-art for final results, uploading the party stuff where it should be, sending prizes to the winners or missing stuff to...the ones who lost it :) So please be patient a day o two more :)

NoName: your quick visit to Danzig ;) was one of the highlights of the party. One of the legendary Quartet guys (pioneers of the polish C64 & Amiga scene) was amazed that he could talk to you. And I'm sure Zubrowka got to the right hands :) Thanks for your support, next time we'll have Zubrowka together - with the apple juice, as it should be ;)

Cheers!

@Magic: keep in mind that even with a polished final version it's sometimes hard to get z5's attention ;-) He's getting old (as we all are!) and more demanding than ever!

Hmm... Jazzcat... Never heard of him. Is that a swapper from an ancient dead scene group (something with ghosts iirc) that nobody knows about or something? :) <3

Also, Sushi Boyz DID mention "party" in the filename so i fully expected a final version because of that. And i was actually hoping for a final of Momentum (demo had potential) just as with Quintessence.

But seriously, i get what you're saying though and you're right. Although i'm still very much here in spirit and still watch every production.

@jazzcat: age? just numbers.. or when we are all retired from work the scene will have an explosion of new releases? :))))

@Dodke: I am curious to the DMA amiga demo :)

@Noname: you are totally right! :)

Sachy, visiting your party was my personal Amiga demoscene highlight of the year! I hope we can have some Zubrowka w. apple-juice at a party in the near future.

Does anyone know what happened to KK's demo? I really liked it and would like to see a binary at some point. Just hoping he didn't fall into a trap with the Mist emulation (or however you call it with an FPGA).

@Overflow: thx :)

@Noname: cool to hear that :) Then we are set for Zubrowka session! ;) As for KK, he didn't fix it yet. I offered him some debug help, we gonna meet some time soon, maybe even this or another weekend.
