@mavey:
- where are you located (Poland i presume?)
- is the card intended for (long term) demo making purposes?

Yes, I'm located in Poland.

It's intended for intro 64k or demo :) I've o4o with PPC at home, however I would like to work on something for classic Amiga, that's why o6o is recommended :)

So Mavey/Potion is interested in making a new 64k aga intro? Sounds like an excellent plan.

If you don't find a card nearby (or at least in Poland), i might have solution but i need to check some things first. Drop me a mail if interested (no promises though so best look in Poland first?)

Those cards are simply impossible to find. I've also tried finding one here in Denmark, but sadly with no luck. So,have to stick to emulator....

There's currently a Blizz 1260 + SCSI + RAM at auction on Ebay
Look here, ends May 12 2014

Current bid already crossed the "obnoxious-barrier" but hey, what are you going to expect ?!

On a side note:
I simply don't get it why for instance the 1230 accelerator is re-produced by several companies but nobody dares to touch a 1260/50 MHz accelerator, as if it's somehow impossible to produce -- it's the 21st century damn it.
Talked about it with a couple of folks at Revision. We agreed on the fact, that for playing the bulk of A1200 games a 1230 is the optimal choice, hence the retro-gaming "market" dictates the reissuing :(

@dodge: I think the problem is the availability and price of 68060 CPU's. So the price of a card would probably still end up being something like 500e.

Mavey, wish you good luck in your return to coding.

About the card. Tere is one other solution yet. Look for the Apollo 1240 (they are much easier to buy), and then contact one of the few Polish hardware magicians (stachu or superbonio at ppa.pl). They can replace the 040 processor to 060 (most often they have several available).

Damn, i had no clue these 060 cards are so rare. I could have made a fortune selling my Apollo 1260 (which, i hope is still in working condition) and retired to a tropical island.

@britelite: a Germany-based renowned Amiga HW seller apparently has got a number of 68060 CPUs ( full FPU + MMU at 50MHz) in stock for apprx. EUR 80 ... take a looksie

@dodge: Yeah, but how many? To make a decent amount of cards at a reasonable price, you'd have to at least get several hundred of these CPU's.

APollo card isn`t a bad choice (I own a 040/40) but the main disadvantage is the max. amount of 32 MB ram. If you can live with it, go for it. Advantage is to get high clock rate.

As far as I understand the main problem with 060 cards is the amount and price (gold price) of 060 cpu. Jens wrote that already on some forums. Have a search for details.

@mavey: I think its possible to replace the 040 on your PPC card with an 060, not sure who will do this anymore though but this might be another option.

If you wanna buy something for Amiga I find Amibay as the best option these days. Recently RLE from Traction also wanted to buy a real HW (A1200+B1260) for his demomaking and he was quite successful. He just registered and created "Wanted" thread for it.

When I check selling threads currently only one Blizzard 1260 is available and seller adds SCSI Kit (here: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?58517-1260-Blizzard-amp-SCSI&highlight=blizzard+1260). All together is for 430 GBP. It has 64 MB on Blizzard and 32 on SCSI Kit so 96 in total (maximum you can have 256 MB in total). I declared interest, it means I can reserve it for you for 24 hours. During that time you can pay it or withdraw interest. Please let me know and I can contact the seller for the payment details (paypal address and you tell me your shipping address).

Another option is your Blizzard PPC. 040 can be easily replaced by 060. Probaly the most famous guy who does replacements and also repairements is polich guy Stanislaw Sedlak called Stachu100. You can reach him (under his nick Stachu100) on Amibay and also on EAB. Be prepared the 060 CPU costs about 100 EUR these days and upgrade and shipping will be included. He also mey know about some Blizzard 1260 which he makes from Blizzard 1240 cards ;o)

But please let me know ASAP (jack-3d[a]volny.cz) if you are interested in that Blizzard 1260 + SCSI + 96 MB (http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?58517-1260-Blizzard-amp-SCSI&highlight=blizzard+1260) so I can contact the seller and arrange communication between you and him.

Purely out of curiosity, how much euro would a 1260 with 32Mb be these days on average?

Also, today i turned on my A1200 with a good old fashioned CRT monitor after years of inactivity (it was last used when i did the two intros). As somebody who has been using an emulator for so many years now, it was nice to use a real Amiga again. Pity that the harddrive developed read erros many years ago though. But i suddenly felt that there is something to be said about owning a real amiga instead of an emulator.

I still have a brand new A1200 too (never used), two A500's and a A1000 (with a whopping 512Mb Microbotics expansion). Fun times it most certainly were. Maybe i should start thinking of donating some of these things to somebody who is still active (not the A1000 though :))

Prices grows year by year now. When I check recent sells on Amibay it was around 500 EUR. Some of them were tuned like 66, 75 or even 80 MHz for demo fans, some of them were pure and untouched with box and manuals for collectors. When I spoke with Jens at Revision he is not planning 060 accelerator, so prices will grow until someone makes something good quality like Blizzards (but I heard some rumors, lets wait and hope).

A1200 is great machine, there is everything you need. Blizzard 1260 and 128 MB makes it fast, Indivision scandoubler with flixkerfixer makes it compatible with all LCDs and good colors, PCMCIA-CF provides fast plung&play storage and data transfer with PC (or PCMCIA ethernet card).

Real is real, I use UAE to check what I have just downloaded and then I copy it to my Amiga(s) and enjoy.

As jack_3d said, I would also recommend Stanislaw Sedlak's service, he fixed a dead CSPPC for a friend of mine a few weeks ago. (The 060 socket was badly repaired previously, and even the PCB was damaged underneath, but he managed to bring it back to life!) He documented the entire procedure with photos and everything, and sent back the stuff really quickly (with insurrance). Very good service. I think he can also provide 060 CPUs and/or socket, when it comes to upgrading a BPPC from 040 to 060. It's still not cheap, there are risks (of breaking the card altogether) but it's an option and may be cheaper (and more available) than buying a B1260.

Additionally, if you don't wanna risk your BPPC, you could look for a B1240 which should be cheaper, and then have that upgraded.

mavey:
I bought that Blizzard 1260 + SCSI + RAM at auction on Ebay posted in the link above. I have also looked a long time for a 060 card and finally got one ;)

A shame that these cards are so expensive nowadays.

As far as I know, it is DCS sitting on the rights of the Old Phase5 cards that were made: http://www.dce.de/
We could have contacted them to ask if they will make a new batch of PCB boards without the 060 CPU, but i think we must make a big batch.

I'm looking forward too see some nice stuff from Potion Production again. Just loved the productions in the past :)

Best regards,
Tassel / LaBaN

Just to echo what tassel said; Looking forward to seeing a production rivaling Planet Potion.

The demo is amazing, only rivaled (and maybe even surpassed) by the music.

Simply amazing!
