z5: on pouet in the "going to datastorm 2014" thread, Bonefish mentions that he and 3-4 others can't register here on ADA....is registration disabled? Could you give him a reply on pouet?

Yes, it has been disabled for a long time already (spam reasons). It sucks but i can't do anything about it. There were other people asking for registration too. For a while, i opened and closed the registration whenever people asked but that was't doable anymore.

This site needs work to be properly fuctional again but the web developer lacks time (for which i can only have respect... We are all getting older/busier with real life stuff).

Hmm, I am planning a topic here on ADA for which it would be very inconvenient if people were not able to register...

What kind of work is it that needs to be done? I don't have much experience with web development, but I am willing to serve as spam-cleaner for a while if that means we can keep the registration open. And I might even be able to take a shot at the site itself.

This is very kind but i'd rather see amiga coders spent their time on coding demos instead of coding sites about demos. Todi/Tulou is the www developer and did a great job reviving this site when it went down due to a virus attack (it would probably never have returned online without him so i'm really thankful for that). Also, i can't and shouldn't speak for him so any www developers that feel motivated to help out a bit should get in touch with him :) maybe share a bit of work between a couple of developers that are preferably not active amiga coders or skilled to make things happen fast in order to limit the time spent on it. In the end, a site like this is nothing without new demos coming out.

I might be speaking against my own site here but maybe it's time someone else had a go at creating an ada alternative with a simple forum for discussion or use an existing website like eab or pouet? At this point, this site can't really offer what it should, especially forum wise.

I think you misunderstand how free time works - for me at least. ;)

Spending time improving this site will not subtract time from my Amiga coding activities. On the contrary, the community here keeps me motivated, and a thriving ADA will increase the likelyhood that I will spend my time on Amiga coding rather than other stuff.

This site is where Amiga sceners have been meeting for almost a decade now. You can't just make people meet somewhere else - this is our cozy little home. :)

Yes, EAB has lots of good discussions as well, and would probably be the obvious place to migrate to, but it's not ADA.

I agree. I may not be a 'core scener', but this is the place to go to get advice and opinions from those that really know that stuff regarding demo coding.
Whatever happens pleeeeeeaaassse don't turn this site into a "sign-in with facebook" site - I have no desire to have a facebook account so that multi-millionaire companies, security agency's among others can track every thing I do or buy. A non-Amiga site that I visited fairly frequently has just done that, and now I will never use that site again.

Just concluding this topic by mentioning that the forum is open again. Only one registration is needed for both ada and forum.
