I dont have Inet connection for my A1200 nor do I have the PC and Amiga in network.
Ive been considering using ASMOne with Clantao while trying to learn ASM due to the higher screen reselution, bigger HD etc etc..
But Ive noticed when running some demos on Clantao that the grafix sometimes corrupts or crashes the emulator...
So..any thoughts wether or not Clantao is any good for getting into ASM coding?
Hmm...I guess if TBL uses WinUAE...i dont have any excuses to not make the next The Gathering demo compo winner ... :)
I'll take a note of this and wait for The Gathering with impatience :)
Seriously, it would be cool to see new coders appearing on the Amiga scene. Good luck!!
Nowadays we dont bang the hardware much btw.. the way to achieve that silkcut look is through chunky to planar coding.. A nice thing is that now we actually have "new amigas".. so if we make demos for the a1200 that are compatible with the new beasts, then we can have some smooth demos again too... We dont have to wear the amiga glasses when we watch demos in order to compensate for the honestly lousy framerate of most recent demos..
The way to be compatible is to use the system for everything.. And this is fine as long as youre coding chunky to planar stuff anyway..
But, your right. We wear "amiga glasses" and its hard to justify the "greatness" of an Amiga demo VS a PC demo these days to the younger audience that hasnt seen C64/A500 demos etc.
Im still amazed by C64 demos and what they can accomplish with the limited hardware, but the Playstation generation just look at the C64 and compare it with Halo2....
As for being a "new coder"...hehe...im more or less back to square one. Im just doing this for the mental challenge when I have freetime. Instead of rotting infront of the TV watching Soapoperas Ill rot infront of the Computer Monitor! :)
If I ever get off the ground with my ASM coding again, maybe Ill one day dare to show ppl a "demo" ....Prolly around the time Bush admits mistakes ;)

Well, i still think that Amiga demos have it's place in the demoscene. Look at what happened at Breakpoint 2004, where the amiga productions, on ancient dead olddated hardware, were the star of the show, proving that freshness, style, ideas... still are more important than having the latest graphic card monster, ditto CPU.
You can't compare the amiga and pc scene, but each one of them has it's merits and strenghts.
I agree. I showed Silkcut to some friends and their jaws dropped.
Amazing code, design and Music.
Just pointing out that we "older" computergeeks tend to appriciate the older hardware more and what you can do with it when you have hardcore coding skills.
I mean, rload lying in his barrackbed in the Army coding away on his A1200. Thats hardcore dedication right there!! :)
No wonder hes as good at it!
