Yeah, that Rebb tune sounded fantastic down here! I think that the compo was quite good this time. The Dodke demo also surprised me. I'm truly amazed that you could manage to do so much stuff, in so little time - and welldesigned also!

Indeed this was a good compo. The Traktor&Nature demo was absolutely stunning. Still no sight of that Skarla demo, I'm starting to wonder if its all just a game ;-)

And no Tulou amiga demo :( I always thought this was a sure thing: tulou amiga demo at BP...

But indeed, i had the impression that Kalms was working on something and Jamie... maybe they are going to go for Assembly and compete against pc demos again... for the extra challenge :)

Still, the amiga demo compo was far better than i had hoped.

i'm sorry z5 that we have not released the demo, we work really hard on this projet and it take all my free time, i can't go faster with a fulltime job and a 2 years kid.

You can't imagine all the work we did, it's just crazy. We will try to release the demo this year and trust me it will be a nice surprise

You can't imagine how much i appreciate the fact that you guys are working on a new demo (and i'm sure i'm not the only one). Take your time! I'm sure it's going to be absolutely worth waiting for!!!

even if i was a little dissapointet that jamie and kalms didn't release, I gotta say the amiga demo compo kicked serious butt this year, with some outstanding quality in all the demos and surely kiero just raised the bar for accelerated demos this year, what a show by elude guys.
And once again a nature+traktor coop, wuuhuu, u guys make a serious kickass team, with some fresh ideas and some entertaining show :D
To all the amigasceners who kicked butt at BP09, I love u guys, you certainly showed'em.....AMIGA!!!!!!!!

Yeah, 2 very good demos: "jesus christ motocross" and "Lightshaft". Very different, so, can't said which one is better. But for sure, punk rock with some chiptune inside crash my head as i old punk rock lover :) All of this with good design, code and gfx. Pretty nice / energy one.

But from other side, Elude's demo are 'serious'. For sure it's kicked PC butts where you have many tools/hardware for making good stuff, but almost no one use it in full case (with some exceptions of course, but).

Sadly that nothink from TBL, it will be interesting to see who is won beetwen :) But anyway, prods are very good.

ps. it's only for me rload's stuff looks 'not so' ?

What i want to add, that strange that Kiero swith back to 256 colours. Don't accept my words wrong, demo are very good, and i will never create anythink more or less closed to this, and it's very good by code, music and so on, but. For such 'heavy' modeling stuff, for sure, 256 colours are 'not so'. We all remember old warp3d demos from MAWI. It was heavy by 3d, but with support of Warp3D it was fully true-color, so, looking are very good. Of course not many of amigans have warp3d on their old amigas, but strange why not release the 'hi-color' version. These 256 cols, are bring down a bit atmospere of demo. And 640x512 can be much-much better for sure for all other prods :) It's all becouse many of coders used some routines which are done by someone in very-very past ?:)

@kasie: it's simple: graphics card and ppc's boards aren't allowed in the bp compo anymore (i for one am very happy that kiero returned to 256 colors).

Has anyone managed to run elude's demo on winuae btw? I get the loading screen but nothing more. Definately would love to see that demo again.

For me it's just crashes on winuae after first scene (and scene are messed). But, it works just fine on my pegasos2 with morphos2.2 :)

z5, said me true: you like low-level resolution ? I mean you said "i am happy". Happy becouse of what ? It's not better to made 2 versions, for rare fans and for anyone who want more colours (but still on amiga). What you think ?

ps. all on what i want to point, it's just amiga rokz and blalbal, but why many of democoders stuck on these 256 cols ? And the strange think, some of you "happy" becouse of it :)

ps2. and 'true-color' and 640x512 not mean "ppc".

Yes, i think 256 colors is enough. If you are going to add more processor power, graphic cards, gazillion of colors and resolutions, then what difference will you have compared to a pc demo? Better make a pc demo then. Then again, this is a pointless discussion because each person feels different about it :) Let's just say i'm very happy with Amiga = 68060 + Aga and anything lower.

z5, i not said about all of it. I just said 640x512 will be much better (and more or less enough) for screen resolution. And sometime (expectually for Kiero demos) true-color will a bit 'up' production.

For example for "jesus christ motocross" 256 are more than enough. It's looks like fully true-color stuff. Very good for eyes. Your one, pretty good looking with 256 cols too (but for sure 640x512 will 'smooth' the lines of circles :) ). But kiero's one, looks like 'somethink missed by colours'. And it's the 256cols stuff for sure. Textures looks a bit 'blend'. Not have this 'light' which they can have.

It's all only an opinion for sure, and we all have different and so on. Just curios :)

@kasie: i see what you mean and i agree that Kiero's stuff could look better with a better resolution and more colors. The same could be said for example for the TBL demos. But somehow i like it that way :)

:) i just start to write about "but TBL demos, not looks like 256cols stuff, latest one looks like more or less-true color ones".

But yep, you got what i just mean: i mean it's all cool and so on, but just little bit more (a very little bit) resolution and colors sometime (for sure not anytime, becouse we all see many prods which are very cool with 256cols) can 'up' the prod. Expectualy Eludes ones.

For sure, it's all about 'making an ideal amiga stuff'. But all what we have pretty enough also to make good mood (wathed again "jesus christ motocross". The best one for last years for me :) ). This punk-rock song with chip-tune stuff very fresh. Esau need to cooperate a punk-rock band :))

We have him in our internal mailing list, but I'm sure Sting0r is following this forum quite frequently. So he might have already read this lines. Nevertheless I'll send the word out.

Another one? Really, third place at the compo + scene.org nomination are a definite indication that the scene wants you to keep on coding. You show some fresh and determined style. Great work!

Thanks go to everyone for releasing new productions. Watching the compos has been a superb experience once again.

@z5:
"Has anyone managed to run elude's demo on winuae btw? I get the loading screen but nothing more. Definately would love to see that demo again."

1., Two things: it needs shitload of RAM. Way over 50MB.
2., On real Amiga, it takes AAAAAGES to load. Over 3 minutes, IIRC. We've cut it in the recording to be enjoyable on the bigscren... Maybe it's slow in WinUAE too, and/or you haven't got enough patience. :) On the other hand, it doesn't disable multitask, so you can use Amiga-M to switch screens and see what it is doing in the background, or if it really failed. :)

Hope that helps.

BTW, thanks for everyone contributing to Breakpoint competitions, and extra-huge-giga-mega-special thanks fly out to Loaderror for saving the independent 4K compo with heavy recycling after the deadline. :)

For future Breakpoint(s?), if you've got anything in mind which should be changed during Amiga compos, or any requests, questions, suggestions, let me know.

ohh...ok that's what they meant with "party version".
So we might expect some frames more from a non verbose multitask-off version

Also a big THANK YOU to you, Charlie, for the recording.
It's getting way better by the year. Perhaps we make a breakthrough in recording equipment (Dirtie - beeing a TV cutter - is trying his butt off for that matter ;) which we may provide in the future.

And another greeting to Charlie for being the most laidback, but still efficient, compo-organizer I've ever dealt with outside the KG team. :)
