This weekend, as usual, i was very much looking forward to adding the new Ephidrena release from Kindergarden to A.D.A., like i have done 32 times before during the 7 years of running this website. But then i found out that it wasn't an Amiga release... so it seems that Eph finally went pc after all.

Ephidrena always had a very special place in my heart. In fact, they were the main reason why i actually enjoyed the demoscene even more the last ten years, contrary to a lot of people who actually feel like the amiga demoscene stopped at Nexus 7.

I'm curious to see what they do on pc but i have no doubt at all that they will kick ass again once they settle down with the new platform. In the end, it shouldn't matter which platform you're on to do your thing but it still makes me unbelievably sad somehow.

Cyberstarr, Frequent, Zixaq, Stoney, Cheetah and Loaderror... it has been fucking unbelievably great having you on Amiga. Thanks

Have the eph-guys themselves actually said they're quitting their amiga-activities? Or are you just making assumptions from one PC-release? :)

I may have jumped the gun a bit and it probably sounded more emotional and "drama queen-ish" than intended. However, we have seen many groups going from Amiga to pc but few or none of them returned.

In any case, if Picnicbass indeed turns out to be Eph's last amiga prod, then this thread is just there as a token of appreciation for all the good stuff released in the last 10 years.

Don't worry... I have it from Loaderrors mouth that he will make an Amiga 4k for Breakpoint 2009. And I will hold him to it! ;)

And you, dear reader, will also make an Amiga 4k for Breakpoint 2009!

Malmix: Actually, it's loady's 3rd or 4th PC production (depends a bit how you count) - and 2nd or 3rd under the Ephidrena label. Before Texas he did some audio and visuals to "Kjøtt og Data", a PC 4k by Boozoholics and Ephidrena for some solskogen or something, and even as early as in 2003 he and Cheetah did an OpenGL ES demo that ran on some kind of PC (with some special hardware, so some people might choose not to consider it a PC demo). None of these prods has been released to the Internet, though.

z5: I don't think you should worry too much about the future of Ephidrena Amiga-releases.

edit: Oh, damn. Now I have to make an Amiga 4K for Breakpoint. CURSE YOU, ASKE!

I saw some new code things by loaderror at the party (for a demo project) so surely he's still planning on doing stuff on amiga.

There was a video of that opengl es thing somewhere at some point. It wasn't really that interesting tho.

also Lux Aeterna final (working title Lux Aeterna Forever) is not done yet. I'll put it on my tombstone so that you have to pilgrim to Norway and get past a few aztec traps and a huge rolling ball to see it.

damn now I have to make a 4k for Breakpoint too

@skan ...you can count me in on the 64k ... after all it's MDS' 10th anniversary next year.

I'm doing stuff ATM and it looks quite motivating.
Meaning the code works generally and runs on the 500, too

I think the demo projects are now approaching the time span of the C=64 guys. Say several years. When I heared how long they work on one single
thing, one can only pay respect. Not only "Edge Of Disgrace" ...

@dodge: aren't you super early to do bp2009 stuff? Usually, you end up asking coding questions in March... :)

Like the old Sepp Herberger once said:
"Nach dem Spiel is' vor dem Spiel" - "After the match is before the match"

I'm too busy in real life and too dumb in matters of coding to just cut some stuff out of my armpit some days before the party :)

...the asking was because I had problems...no problems so far ;)

@dodge

Cool news! =)

Would be cool to have a 64k from EPH too!
Omnicrom is still in my all-time Top 3 when it comes to 64k's....

...and of course, another full-lenght demo like Respirator Stories!

C'mon guys, if you wanna be forgiven you MUST release something in each compo at next BP!!! ;P
