Does anyone know if files that gives a "load hunk error" can be rescued/cheated intro running files again?

Don't know. But there was a program called "hunklab" which might or might not be helpful for your task.

Depends on the level of damage. If only the hunk header is corrupted, rebuilding the file is possible. If there's more that's corrupted, it might still be possible to recover the file. Hard to say without having a look at the file though.
