Only amiga makes it possible!

OK, so I'm doing it again... Once a Ranger, always a Ranger it seems...
Changes in this years rules, compared to last year (DRAFT, NOT OFFICIAL BEFORE IT APPEARS ON THE PARTY SITE):
General Rules: * Entries which support the Vampire/Apollo/other FPGA cores are only accepted in the Amiga competitions, if they also run on the advertised "stock" compo machines. If they don't run on stock hardware, they will be moved to the Wild Compo, and you have to provide your own hardware for recording.
16:9 Recording Option (NEW):
* Annoyed by the thick black frame on the bigscreen around your Amiga entry? This year, we can record your Amiga entry in a 16:9 format, so it will be full screen on the bigscreen! * On the standard 320x256 PAL screen, only render into a 320x180 (16:9) area, positioned vertically to the middle. * If you setup your screen manually, use the following values: DIWSTRT,$5281; DIWSTOP,$06c1 * Do not change the resolution or change the position of your render area during your entry. * Preferably set the border color to black outside this render area. * This option was mainly invented for AGA entries, but OCS/ECS is not excluded. * If you want this option, make sure to leave a note to the organizers in the party system when submitting your entry.
Everything else should be as last year. Your thoughts, comments, complaints are welcomed!

OK, just for clarification, the Vampire rule just tries to suggest that you can provide alternative codepaths if you insist on supporting the Vampire, but your entry still has to run on one of the configurations advertised AND we will use the A500 or the A1200/060 as advertised for the recording. So absolutely no "hey, my entry runs on a 060, but it's 2fps, so lets record from my Vampire for extra speed".
I'll reword this for the final rules.

But... but... the cool kids' display window is like: dc.w diwstrt,$4581,diwstop,$f9c1 Because staying above the y-byte overflow is handy for coding and still looks nice on real CRT. (Of course, I am not committing to actually doing anything, just giving my 2 cents.)

@noname: TBH, I have precisely zero experience with that level of HW banging, I'm an OS guy... So I hired Britelite as consultant :P and these were the values he recommended. I took them. There's still an option to change them, but I would like to avoid to reposition the 16:9 recording window all the time on our recording equipment...
(We do this directly during recording, because the professional video scaler we use provides much better results than what we could achieve by clipping/scaling after recording.)

Dodke: that was seriously a power-demo you delivered. 1st place in my book, even though Ephidrena also delivered a great bag of goodies!
