Funny idea! Well worthy of the no1 spot... not! :P

Nice idea. I would say one of the best Drifters demos so far.

Finally it worked - also the capturing... "HAM8 mode was too 1337 to be captured" stingray said :D LOL!. Great idea behind it.

This demo didn't do much for me so i would have placed it last in the compo. However, i like the splitscreen idea of now against 20 years ago and the music was nice. And it appears that the demo has hit a soft spot with a lot of sceners so good work Drifters.

Nice idea to mix "both worlds". Nice music... But it was not so spectacular to win the whole compo.
comment by Frog on 28 March 2008
I'm totally agree with Z5.
When you see all the work done by others group to release some high quality prods at BP08 and seeing this demo ending 1st at the competition, it could make you mad.
Funny prod but it definitively didn't deserve 1st place but the last place of the compo.

@frog: i'm sure that Drifters also worked hard on this demo. It's probably just a matter of taste. In the end, it's good to see different genres of demos and different tastes :o)
comment by Frog on 28 March 2008
yep sure... no offence, i don't say there's no work in this prod but just that i think voter should bought some glasses.

Sorry but this is just too boring and lacks any style or finesse.
Just compare it to other older demos like Desert Dreams, The Prey, Roots, World of Commodore, Enigma and many many others, this demo doesn't even come close to effects, music, graphics or style.
The split screen was maybe a good idea but the execution was horrible. Just look at Surrealism/Andromeda from 1993, that's how you do things with style.
Even most cracktros are more fun to watch than this.
Whatever happened to the Amiga scene, it loooked so promising with Starstruck.
comment by Cego on 28 April 2008
you know what the problem is? many of you who critisize it, were't present at the BP08 party. That demo was amiga feeling pure and it really fit into the party atmosphere. i guess that was the reason why people voted for it. my fave was still soliloquy, but this one is pretty good as well.
comment by skan on 30 May 2008
It may not be an absolute masterpiece, but it's funny. And Cego is right.
And StingRay is a friend of mine, so 3/5! ;D

Just saw these comments today when ADA returned.
Just a few words to Frog: Your comment is downright stupid and arrogant! What's up Frog, where can I see your "high quality" demos? So I can tell you at which place in a compo they should've ended up! No offence my ass! I think instead of telling voters to buy some glasses you should accept that your opinion isn't the unassailable truth, apparently many other people liked the demo enough to vote for it. Then again you're french so I suppose there's some anger and hate towards a certain french group hidden in you which might explain your comment.
For all others, this was never made to win any compo (which should be quite obvious!) and it was never meant to be an "hardcore effect show" either! Seeing it win is one of my strangest "WTF?!?!" scene experiences ever! I understand that people may dislike it and I have absolutely no problem with that, after all tastes differ.
I do have a problem with people complaining about the demo for some very stupid reasons reasons though (yes Frog, I'm looking at you!).
Anyway, it was fun to code and I still like it as it perfectly fulfilled its purpose which was to celebrate the 20th birthday of Drifters. Not more, not less.
