Me and deadguy stayed at Hotel Crystal last year. We got this new designer room with room for four people. The room is now a part of their four star section and we managed to book the same room this year, but to last year's rate.
It turns out we didn't manage to bring the same people as last year, leaving us alone in the room (small apartment with separate toilet and shower) leaving us with two vacant beds!
The room is €153 per night (excluding breakfast) meaning €38 per person and night.
The party is in walking distance, but there will probably be shuttles stopping by like last year too.
So if you haven't already booked your stay or if you're looking for a better deal at the hotel or just want to go posh PACiF!C style, send me a mail at wasp at amigascene dot se.
We do have the option of changing rooms, but we really don't want to cancel this one. :)
See you in less than two weeks!

Looking good, Corial. Seems a big part of the work is already finished. Looking forward to the result.

Yeah,it will be....different :D

Yesterday we struck Alpha Status. All effect scenes developed and styled to apprx. 85 %. Music is almost there. All that's left until the deadline are transitions. synchronising, speed optimisations and last minute polishing.

Haha, whoops: we have an 80k intro :D. Now where the heck did we go from 57k to 80?! "Curt Cool, what on earth did you put into the newest version of the music???".

kyehehe ... we're still at 43k crunched with Stonecracker, so Novel has about 10k of air left :P

Instant hate towards my favourite Germanz :D.Can I borrow some of your k's? Must try to pack the samples, but I'm very surprised how it could explode that much....

corial: just use destructive sample crunching. Noone will know. ;)

Just tried that out and that gives me what I need: a 64k intro below 80k :D.I can't hear any difference, but you musicmindet Mozartlike types will likely instantly hear something that you think is "odd"...let's call those features "art".Well, back on track I guess but will have to save som intended k's elsewhere now.Nevermind,it's really a "different" intro this time,so not really that big a deal.
Wasp+Deadguy: how's your 6 disk trackmo coming :)

Yesterday I ran into some different constraints, though. Seems we exceeded the chipRAM by one added 64 byte wide screenbuffer ( 512*256 = ~16kB), leading to a freezin A500. So I definitely was correct that Novel has a buffer left of 10k of chipmem, although I doubt he'll use it this time because he'll release his long-time work-in-progress-project and has little time to tweak the intro soundtrack. I think a little graphics reorganising is in order.
By quittin' time today I'll enter "seclusion" until Thursday next week to hammer out all the dings ... FINISHING LANE, ENTERING!

Corial, Revision has this rule that you can only submit one disk in the oldschool demo compo ;)
Jokes aside, we had no plans to release anything at Revision this year.
Btw, Corial, is it based on a true story about your final German Easterparty?

Yep, final one but not my last party! Just want to visit other parties now. I like smaller and more oldschoolish parties and would also like to try an Easterlunch with the family for a change :D

OK, time for another status update from me:
Intro code: 98% (just a few compatibility bugs to fix) Modelling tool: 95% (just missing ability to play the music) Music synth: 100% Music conversion script: 99% (no known bugs) Music: 10% (we have some instruments...) Visuals: 0% (that's right, not even started)
Anyone up for some 2D animation modelling in a cool, homegrown programming language? ;)

It's a shame but our demo is really to slow to be released, some effects was rewritten but it will be not enough to have a correct framerate, i need to spend more time on optimizations:(

A real shame, Jamie. Things looked really good with the progress reports.
I really missed progress reports from some of the regular contributors/sceners from previous years. Getting slightly nervous about how much amiga stuff is going to be released at Revision...

There is not much to report realy;) I guess today in the morning i was at similar point as jamie is. Progressed a bit but still shitloads of work. Even if the demo is much more basic than usual.

Keep it up everybody. You know you love the feeling of having everybody's attention at your work on the bigscreen for a few minutes. And to hear everybody cheer and scream "Amiiiigaaaa" before the compos :). I would really be surprised if I end in top-3 this time, but it's the "700 geeks staring at something I did" feeling I'm after this time.

Some status report on my 4k:
- No empty parts anymore - 200 packed bytes left - Waiting for final version of the music to see how much it adds to the filesize - Going to get my ass kicked by Blueberry once again :)

corial: And to hear everybody cheer and scream "Amiiiigaaaa" before the compos :) I having to whisper it quietly to myself so not to wake up my family while sofascening :( ho hum, still great to see new releases even if it's only via the stream, and the old school compo is about to start :)

Ahh, now I can relax again. Nice to have it released and to enjoy the rest of the party. First some sleep underneath the table though, cos' too much beer has somehow made me a bit tired :)

In 2007, in an article I wrote something like "I hope the Amiga scene will rediscover its vast heritage, and beside the 060 demos, people start to pushing the limits of the old A500s again." We got some of that at Revision this year, I hope... :) Lots of nice ECS/OCS releases!
And of course it was the first time I had to handle a TBL demo in the Compo Recording Room, which was a pleasure to do, since I never had this opportunity before (I joined the Breakpoint team as Amiga orga in 2007).
But the punchline for me was, after the compo a drunken Kiero and Ubik came to me saying: "We changed our minds. We don't leave the Amiga scene! We will be back next year...!" :)
Thanks again everyone, see you in 2015!

I watched most of the compos through the stream. Personal highlight for me was the tracked music compo. Lots of variety and originality and amazing what can be done in 4 channels. Professional tracker, fax on the run and wonka honk amongst others were great. Also, the Outland picture in the oldschool graphics compo was memorable.
Amiga wise, Serenity by Elude might be my new favourite demo. I have only seen it on youtube so far but i thought it was fantastic and my personal compo winner. Excellent mood, great tune and great effects. A lovely farewell demo for one of my favourite groups and most certainly one of my all-time favourite coders (Kiero).

Excellent party even though we didn't have a release. The highlight for me was Mood's intro, they got their own unique style of doing things and it sits very right with me. The Decadence 4k was also quite something, very impressed by the code in that one. It was great seeing TBL back with a demo and Rift truly had some great parts but there is something slightly worrying when a demo is nearly 50mb big. Eludes demo was great and should have won the compo I think. I think they would gain a lot from reducing the amount of things on the screen to gain some speed. The first part is lovely but I think it would look pretty much as good with only half of the "particles" and if that would give you twice the speed it’s a winner for sure.

Im having a hard time deciding which one I like the most, TBL or Elude. Both are very polished, and the music are really nicely tuned to the mood.
There are quite alot of good music on the Amiga, but often i found the music to be out of "tune". The sampling quality of the instrument often ruined a good tune. Elude and TBL have both pretty much nailed the music part in every demo they have released.
Great stuff, and I hope to see much more from both groups!

I personally very like winner of oldschool intro by Dekadence and the Amiga intro by Moods was also very nice. Funny ideas in FD-Depth intro is also unforgetable. If you ask me what was better TBL or Elude I cannot say, I gave them both 5 stars. In TBL demo there were two breathtaking scenes for me the sculpture and greetings, Elude demo was more coherent and polished.
