A.D.A. Amiga Demoscene Archive

Hi,

I'm getting a 1200 and want to start playing with some amiga assembly graphics programming.. I'm a c++ programmer and I've done a little bit of assembly programming at uni. I did games technology so I know how to program and also graphics on pc.. Are there any books and/or tutorials you would recommend to getting started?

There's an awesome Amiga ASM course tutorial that you can download for free, written by Randy / Ram Jam years ago.
It's great, but it's got a big flaw: it's written in Italian!
The routines work perfectly, but if you can't understand Italian the comments are going to be pretty meaningless, and you aren't going to profit much from them...


Also, you could try to find a copy of Andrew Tyler's "Amiga Real-Time 3D Graphics".
English, very interesting, 100% assembler, but definitely not an ASM tutorial of the depth, easyness and scope of Randy's.


Finally, I think the "Amiga Hardware Reference Manual" can't be avoided, as you'll probably use it often to look up for register addresses and such...

Hehe dont know italian :p Does anyone know where I can buy that book by Andrew Tyler? Seems like its out of production?

You'll have to check periodically amazon (UK expecially) as I did.

Wait, I also remembered a tutorial in English called "How to code" or something like this.

I never checked it, but I saw some posts on the web saying that it's good.

A little late here, but I was fooling around with assembler for about 2 years making a bunch of test commands for use in AMOS. After reading the danish assembler course (found here: http://www.palbo.dk/dataskolen/maskinsprog/ ) I got the courage to start my first 100% ASM demo a little over a year ago.
Don't panic, most of the course has also been translated to english :)
