Hello
This is my first post, I'm brand new to the site so pls forgive my obvious lame-ness for the next 2 minutes.
I remember the demo scene back in the early days of Amiga, and it brought me more enjoyment than even the games could, it also inspired me into all sorts of other graphical mediums which I have kept up an interest in since.
I was sitting here at my PC today and thought it would be a great idea to get hold of an old amiga from ebay and see if I could track down all those long lost demos from the old scene while checking out some new stuff too.
After finding this great site, it would seem that the choice for most is to view these demos via emulation.
My question is, if I do get the old Amiga back in my hands, how easy is it to run the demos that you supply here, natively off the old kit and diskette ? if at all ?
I have been looking at an Amiga with a hdd, theoreticaly I could just fill it up with demos from here and run them however couldnt I ?
Any pointing in the correct direction here would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Antony!
I think it depends on what you are most interested in: old or new demos. If you want to see modern demos, you need an A1200 with 68030->68060 (060 for most of the current "big" demos) and these don't come cheap. Most modern demos do run very nicely on a average pc with winuae installed (winuae is free) and some are even recorded on video. Granted, it's not the same as watching it on a real Amiga but for new demos, i would advice you to check out winuae. You can always decide later to buy a real Amiga if you really "get into it" again.
For old demos, A500's can be picked up cheap (at least last time i bought one) but again, i would try emulation to get the feeling back. But deciding to go for a real A500 is a easier and less epensive choice in this case. I don't see a problem with finding files on the net to run on your original amiga.
