just copy&pasting some old post of mine from Pouet.

"pouet falsely states amiga ocs demos to be amiga ecs demos since it
doesn't give the option to mark a production as amiga ocs.

the amiga had three chip-models: ocs, ecs, aga.
ecs had only some minor improvements and has been shipped e.g. in the amiga 500+ with kickstart 2.x. ecs-screenmodes haven't been used by the classic amiga demos which in fact were programmed for the ocs chipset and thus have been run on amiga 500, 1000, 2000, etc.

i suggest to rename "Amiga ECS" to "Amiga OCS" since
probably nobody would ever upload a true Amiga ECS demo."

the same applies to a.d.a. but in a less severe way.
i have seen the ECS flag being used here without reason.
for example "3d demo/anarchy" is marked to require ECS whereas its successor "3d demo2/anarchy" is marked as OCS. do i hear nonsense?

come on. unless you _KNOW_ that a demo requires ECS you can safely mark it as OCS. to my knowledge there ain't a single ECS demo on the amiga. i'm happy to be proven wrong on this point but untill that happens you should replace all "ECS" flags with "OCS"

I'm happy that you brought this up. To be honest, i never knew the differences between OCS and ECS myself. To be completely honest, i don't even remember why i marked certain demos ecs...

So yes, i will change all ecs marked demos to ocs. And if ever one knows for sure that a demo needs ecs instead, just post it in the forums.

I guess the OCS<->ECS confusion results from the Kick1.2<->1.3 confusion, lots of people migth think OCS = Kick1.2 and ECS = Kick1.3+... Sanity`s Roots is probably a 'real' ECS demo though (except aga-part ofcourse)?!?

i think the confusion comes from constant wrong usage of the term. pouet admin also refused to fix the bug for some stupid reason and thus cemented the wrong usage in common sceners language.

i wouldn't know why roots should be ecs. as far as i remember the non-aga part was supposed to work on 68020 or better and OCS. this is not the same as ECS (which is the gfx-chipset as written above).

I changed all ecs productions to ocs in the update today.
