With the FPU being standard on 040 and 060 do many/any demos use this hardware or is it still better to use large integers ?

BTW Can anyone recommend a free assembler or know where I can get a copy of Devpac 3 ? As I can now use someone elses system take over routine (God bless the Internet !) I'm tempted to write a few effects.

The nice thing about the FPU is that it works in parallell with the CPU so you can start a slow FPU operations and execute normal CPU instructions while this is running as long as you don't query the result.

I think a lot of demos use the fpu nowadays. Loonies stuff for example utilize the trick above to great lengths :)

Toffee: you could try asmone, which is a nicely integrated editor/assembler/debugger. I once packed it up with my demosystem and some example. Grab the archive from the WickedOS thread here on ADA. Make sure to download v1.01 which is linked about halfway down the first page of the thread.
