Hi all. I've started an Amiga Demo Podcast.

The demo podcast [url=pcast://feeds.feedburner.com/AmigaDemoPodcast ]feed[/url] can be subsribed to (H.264), but there is also a DivX download available from the site.

I'm hoping to release it once a week, and when I have enough viewers I will be opening it up so that there is a voting system in place, to vote for the next demo.

Having bought my first Ipod (photo) about a year ago, i'm still kind of new to what podcasts are.

However, seeing the ipod video (haven't bought one yet), playing demos on it was the first thing that came to my mind.

So this seems an excellent idea. Can you supply some more info? Are you encoding the demos and if yes, how (winuae?). And how do these podcasts work. Can i download the videos or what do i have to do. I would already like to download them and keep them on my pc for when i buy such a video thingie.

In any case, if you are encoding them yourself, i think it would be wise to keep them on your hd in a big resolution because with time, ipod video possibilities will grow and so will the resolutions.

In any case, seems a very nice idea (me is visiting the site for more info)

oh and by the way, i think the url thingie messes up because there isn't a http:// in front (can't do much about it)

In theory, all videos available from Amiga demos (all wonderful Madwizards videos, planet potion, all videos from amidemos, all tbl demos...) could easily be converted to ipod video format. I might have a try myself.

As far as the encoding goes, it is H.264 and DivX.

Captured from a real Amiga 1200, specs:
MC68030 CPU @ 50MHz,
MC68882 FPU @ 50MHz,
2MB Chip RAM,
32MB Fast RAM,
850MB HDD,
Kickstart 3.1 (OS 3.5)

Captured in DV format onto a Mac using iMovie, then run through Garageband to create the H.264 podcast. Also re-encoded to DivX for the the DivX feed.

hey thats cool... how did you get the amiga signal to a DV signal? Would it work for realtime? (ie: connect ami to a DV thing and then the DV in realtime to a window at the mac)

I use a ForMac digitiser. It does work in realtime, but there is a half second delay on screen display. But it shows straight in the Mac.

so the formac-thingie has composite input and firewire output, or some such? note my main priority would be being able to plug the amy into the mac for display for coding purposes, so i don't really know if coding with half a second delay is cool or not... most probably moving the mouse would be horrid and i should just get some standard tv... ;)

moving the mouse is a bit of a pain at first, but the brain very quickly adapted to it. To be honest, for coding I don't see it being that much of a problem.

The digitiser has composite/s-video/rf video and RCA audio input/output.

You can also use it to output DV from the mac to composite also.

As an aside, interlaced screens look awesome (i.e. don't flicker)
