Excellent piece of fun! Even if it contains some animations and a small rip-off from FSOL's music. =) My beloved part is this one with transparentclouds, when this ball is falling down. The music fits perfectly in this moment - just amazing!

@skan
Answering to your poll: Relic of course!

This was one of the first demos I remember seeing that had a decent storyline/plot to it. It was also one of the first 3D demos that impressed me somewhat. This one wasn't a case of rehashing old rotating 3d objects like the older school demos all seemed to be about.

If you have never seen this, I would recommend you give it a go now. It was a shining example of what the humble 68K powered Amigas could do.

I remember myself accusing this of being some anim.. what a shame :( .. This is nothing but enormous effort and tweeking of effects to show them in their best possible way... That explosion at the end is gobsmacking to put it mildly.. Not to mention the exploding city!!! the sand is one cool 2d effect I havent seen repeated anywhere. All hail nerve axis for this one!!

I have to say I dont watch it very often (like lapsuus), but its not your partytime demo anyway..

comment by skan on 27 October 2004

@rloaderror

Mhmhm... I suspect the sand effect IS an anim... if you run the demo in 1x1 mode and look close at this part, you'll see some sort of artifacts... or maybe I'm completely wrong!...
This is cool anyway... a HUUUGE 3D demo and the only anim-suspect is a 2d effect... :D

I upped my vote from 3/5 to 4/5 after rewatching it. I still don't feel the need to rewatch it often, but the quality, execution, idea, music and atmosphere of the demo doesn't deserve anything below 4/5.

comment by heetach on 20 January 2005

rloaderro once fooled me into believing that this was all animation, but after having talked to schlott I realized it's got to be one of the best performances ever on amiga.

comment by corial on 26 October 2005

A pure visual delight! Would love to see more Schlott demos, but I guess that Nerve Axis is not around anymore...?

comment by rloaderror on 26 October 2005

I think this is a typical "final demo". You just don't want to work this much on a demo again. There's so much of the "lets code something which looks like something we're imagining in our brains" effects in here. It makes me think that it was the gfx artist/musician/ascii artist that decided what should be coded. There can't be any motivation to code left after this :)

comment by corial on 27 October 2005

You might be right, Loaderror. But I mean, Schlott has had 7 years to recover from the work which the artists have 'forced' him to do, so it would not be unfair to make a wish to see some Schlott stuff again :)

comment by rloaderror on 28 October 2005

7 years is a lot. He should have had some comeback ideas. Maybe he's waiting for someone to beat relic? :)

This is one of those demos I used to wow my 3D-accelerated, PC-owning friends with. It still looks great, really.

comment by mailman on 26 April 2007

I am curious if Schlott is the same guy who created the game Nemac IV?

comment by lvd on 12 June 2007

One of several demos that was like a shock for me, for its time back in 1998. Excellent music emphasized the effect on me.

comment by HOŁDYS on 26 September 2008

SUPERB !!! BEST OF THE BEST AMIGA AGA DEMO

comment by skp on 14 December 2010

Don't know why but I have never really love that one...
