Hi,

I just DL'ed the Grind demo by Dekadence & Accession. However, I am a little confused as to how to get it to work. It is supposed to be for OCS machines, but the executable alone is 3MB in size!!!

I am using WinUAE with OCS chipset, 8MB chipRAM and 68K CPU. All I get is the decrunching message "TITANICS-Cruncher decrunches while loading...". I tried switchin the CPU to 68060 to speed up any decrunching that may be going on, but after leaving it for a few minutes I still get no results.

Does anyone know how to get this demo working??

Sorry, a quick search online revealed that you need fast RAM to get it working... doh!

So the requirements are:

OCS chipset
68060 CPU (for quickest decompression time - about 20 seconds on WinUAE)
2MB chip RAM (in my case anyway)
8MB fast RAM

Grind is a special case since it was made for an Amiga 3000.

@lonewolf

you should choose 8/16MB of "32bit" zorroIII fastram, full 020, 2MB of chipram and perhaps change some chipset accuracy settings. I ran it successfully on my A4000 and I haven't tested it on other machines yet.

I highly recommend that you actually read the nfo-file often supplied with demos, as these can give you valuable hints about the minimum and recommended configurations.

@ crumb

I will try that next time I run it :)

@ britelite

I assumed the nfo file was a mistyped .info file - workbench image icon and other data. If it was a .readme I would have read it - I always read .readme files, no matter how boring they are! :)
