I'm thinking of making an A500 demo montage for www.youtube.com. Basically a 3 to 4 minute sequence showing all the best effects an A500 could do all set to one classic demo tune. Which effects do you reckon I should include ? This list is just a a quick one off the top of my head:-

Zoomer - Start of Santity Jesterday
Blitter feedback - VD Chaos Land
Plasma - Zooming plasma from Arte
Dancing girls - Small sequence from state of the art
Bitmap Rotation - Brian the lion
Dot Landscape- 3D demo 2/Extension
Vector City - Pygmy projects - Extension
Tile Zoomer - Sanity - WOC
Texture mapped tunnel - Sanity - Arte
Bitmap Deres - Lemon - Rink A Dink
Line Tunnel - Mad Elks - Technological death

I want 1/2 dot effects but they look poor on youtube so might drop them. Might depend how good I can get them to look on youtube. Also which tune would you have ?

The 8 spheres in Demo 2 by Parasite is definitely something to include. With the 480x360 high quality format on YouTube I think dot effects would look decent, and the effects in 3D Demo 2 by Anarchy would also be worth including.

Don't know if it would fit your montage but i do think that Virgill's tune from Interference is one of the best oldskool demo tunes around.

I was thinking of Jesters "Stardust Memories" tune from "World of Commodore".

Anyone know a good codec to use from Winuae ?

"techsmith screen capture codec" gives lossless compression. it is shipped with camtasia studio. don't remember if it is supported by winuae but i think it is. otherwise try huffyuv.

If it turns out okay then I will probably do a stock A1200 one and maybe an 060 one.

toffeeman: you managed to sneak Brian the Lion into a demo montage. you really like that game! :)

as for a montage tune, it would be instantly 2favourited" by me if it had the track from Deep-the psilocybin mix http://ada.untergrund.net/showdemo.php?demoid=380 . but again, it may not fit the purpose, as it's not a particularly "old school" track

I'm still impressed by the effects of:

- Satisfaction Guaranteed by Pearl (the dotted wormhole tunnel and especially the hi-speed tunnel sequence which follows after the wormhole sequence). Couldn't find it at ADA, so here's the dl link: http://www.homecomputerworld.com/s-amiga-intro.htm l

- Total Triple Trouble by Rebels: the x-y-z parallax effects are still impressive. (http://ada.untergrund.net/showdemo.php?demoid=524 )

One of my favourite demo tunes is the one by Jester used in Sanity's demo Elysium, but I don't know if this will fit well in your montage.

Slightly off-topic (i don't want to start a thread specially for that and it does continue on the winuae capturing):

I'd like your opinion on something. My intro was captured on video and youtubed here. I have no experience with capturing winuae videos but i was quite surprised to see the instable (at times jerky) framerate of the video since it's running smooth on every setup i tried the intro on. Since the intro is in sync with the music until the very end, can i assume that the jerkiness comes from the pc used for capturing not being powerful enough to maintain the framerate while saving out the video to disk?

How did your captures work out, Toffeeman?

Well I quickly put together some of my favorite A500 demo effects into a YouTube video. Sadly the YouTube encoder reducing the frame rate and resolution has impacted the quality of the video quite badly :0( It's 2012 and YouTube can't handle 50fps videos!
