If you have to explain the demoscene to somebody who doesn't know anything about it and you had the opportunity to show one demo, which one would you pick. In other words, which demo do you think would have the most appeal to non-sceners. (and let's not include 9 fingers and state of the art).

I think it would go for either Silkcut or Respirator Stories.

I think I would actually show a 4k or a 64k, probably Zeon by Nature. If you would show something like Silkcut to people who don't know about the scene they would just be confused (so whats diffrent with this?) while showing a 64k you could explain about pushing limits in an easier way.

Btw, I'll soon write a report about the demo show I had, it went very well, the only problem was that my harddrive started getting checksum errors on the drive the night before.

I tend to WitPremium/PalkaBrothers, since this might be one of the most entertaining shows I`ve seen. Fast paced, pure fun.
Or probably FakeElektronicLightShow/Eph, since it`s just f*king amazing! I actually DID show f.e.l.s. to almost everybody who came across my place (and everybody liked it, ofcourse!)

Light 2 or Heartcore by Iris...or maybe one of the EPH demos mentioned above. These demos represent traditional demo aesthetics, but can still appeal to "normal" people =)

That is an interesting way to look at it. Personally, i would go the opposite way. I mean, how do you explain somebody who has never used a computer (or just pc word/excel/...) what 64k or 4k is? Seems quite impossible to do.

Looking forward to your report.

@z5

Yeah, if you are going to show it to people how have no concept of computers in general it might be hard to explain intros. But I usually find myself introducing it to people who knows quite a bit about computers and then I try to show the stuff which is actually "platform independet cool =)" as intros are. They are usually very impressed when you say "this is 64k" and then you have them on your side so to say which makes it easier to explain why we use amigas and why you have to realate the graphics to the hardware and such.

Btw, are you planing a show or was this just a general question?
