I feel i have a pretty good selection of demos covering the AGA period here on A.D.A. To be honest, it is the demo area i am most familiar with so that is one of the main reasons for the lack of older demos. I did start watching demos before that (probably late 1989 ish... never going to forget Wild Copper) but it was rather hard to get hold of them as games were far more spreaded at that time.

I'd like to start adding all the good demos prior to 1994 and going back to the very start of the amiga demoscene now.

That's why i would like a bit of help in making a comprehensive list of the best productions prior to 1994 and preferably only the ones that aren't on here yet.

Thanks a lot for any input!

The problem I see is that e.g. the best demo of the year 1988 sucks in comparision to the best one of 1992. And there was the "genre" of the megademo, which is not easy to compare with todays demo concepts.
If you put that aside, here is my incomplete list (just written down without checking my archive):
* techtech demo
* Northstar&Fairlight Megademo 3 (any signs of 1 or 2?)
* Kefrens Megademo 8
* Silents Global Trash
* Red Sector Megademo
* Red Sector Cebit 90 Demo (Revenge of the babbnasen :-))
* Razor 911 Voyage
* Silents/Crionics Hardwired
* Rebels Megademo
* Anarchy (too many...)

and countless small ones from D.O.C., Spreadpoint, MelonDezign,....

@z5: wow, what a huge project!

Hm, so much good stuff was made in the old days. I agree with Alexco's choices, but also want to add:

* Dexion Megademo 2
* Plastic Passion by Upfront
* Cool Fridge by Upfront
* Cube-o-matic by Spreadpoint
* No brain-no pain by Flash Production
* 3d demo by Anarchy
* 3d demo 2 by Anarchy
* Digital Innovation by Anarchy
* Hardwired by TSL & Crionics
* Blue House by TSL
* Fruitkitchen by TSL
* Enigma by Phenomena
* Joyride by Phenomena
* Another Dream by Brainstorm
* Blitter Miracle by Brainstorm
* Blitter Disaster by Storm

That must be it for now - have to find my old diskbox :-)

There are still a few to add. I have no intention to add all amiga productions ever done (because i think Pouët is doing that so well already) but there are still a lot of good older demos out there. Never mind that they haven't aged that well. If they were good at that time, they should be added.

The only problem is that i don't have access to a A500 right now (and the one i have is a 2.0 kick A500) and i don't feel comfortable taking winuae screenshots from demos that i haven't seen on the original hardware. But i'll try to find a solution to that. That is also a big reason why there aren't that many older demos yet.

Just keep the suggestions going and i'll add them at some point in the future.

I always liked Demo2 by Parasite. It's available here along with the source code for anyone who's interested in learning about demo programming.

"Space deliria" by Crusaders is missing. Awesome,awesome music by dr.awesome, and in general a demo which was kind of groundbreaking for 1990.

What is your problem with CeBit 90?
Use quick config, a500, kick 1.3, 0.5 Chip, 0.5 Fake Fast.
